Former GMA anchor Joan Lunden has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The journalist, author and health & wellness advocate, revealed the news to a national audience on ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday morning.
Lunden stated on her website well as on Twitter and Facebook, “I have covered many stories about breast cancer over the years but I never actually thought this would happen to me. I have shaped my career around health & wellness advocacy so it seemed natural to share my story. I’ve started chemotherapy and while I don’t know how I’ll look and feel down the road, I am assuming the best because that is how I live my life.”
Lunden revealed her diagnosis to show host Robin Roberts, who has also recently been treated for breast cancer. A rep for the star says Lunden’s treatment will include a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation and she is expected to make a full recovery.
Lunden was the longest running host of Good Morning America and today is a health & wellness and family caregiving advocate; she is the author of eight best-selling books, a noted international speaker and an entrepreneur. She is the spokesperson for Murad skincare and A Place For Mom and founded and runs a women’s wellness retreat, Camp Reveille.
Let’s keep her in our prayers.
